I decided to play my 1500 point army that I took to a local tournament. My level 4 beastweaver skewered many rats with pumped up amber spear. My archers concentrated fire on his heavily armored rats (can't remember their names) and basically took out many points including his hero. His doomwheel took out an eagle early on and then proceeded to misfire and slow himself down enough to effectively take him out of combat. My wizard was lost due to miscast. it was a fairly even fight, we both suffered heavy casualties, but the score was within 20 points difference and tied. |

This was a follow up game with my brother. My girlfriend had just repainted my wood elf lord on forest dragon and wanted to give him a try. My dragon performed wonderfully. I tried to keep my strong things away from his doomwheels, but his doomwheel one shotted my treeman. My dragon crushed a block of clan rats and the assassin hiding within. I blew up a few of my guys with a miscast. I just kept shooting and wrecking his units with treekin and my dragon. |

This was a 3000 point game I played against my brother. We rolled for "battle for the pass," which is the best one for me. He had two doomwheels, several hordes, and some warp lightning cannons. I ran about 50 archers, 6 treekin, wild riders, and some great eagles. He blew up a cannon on the first turn, my wizard miscasted a ****py augment and lost 3 of her 4 wizard levels right off the bat. despite that, i just kept moving my archers back three inches and shooting him down. I had so much room to move back that it took him so long to catch me. I used my other troops to fend off him charging my archers. in the end, it proved too much for him. |

The last game was against Dwarves and it was a game called "Scouting Engagement" where at the start of the game, you rolled each unit's best armor or ward save, if the save was made, then the unit's armor or protection slowed it down and it would not start the game but come in as reserves. My archers and eagles have no save, so started automatically. I missed my save with the treeking but made it with the dryads. The dwarf player was playing one block of dwarves with great weapons and one block of dwarf miners. He had two cannons, one was flaming. He had some bad shots with his cannons before my eagles came in and took them out. I shot his dwarves down as they approached. I kept them just at the charge range where the other player had to take a real chance to charge. the arrow fire was too much. I also got an empowered amber spear off on the flank of the horde of dwarven miners and killed 7 or 8. We called the game at that point. |

another custom scenario they called "summoning escalation." In this game, at least 750 points of your army had to start in reserves, the remaining deployed as normal. then, each player put down a "summoning marker" on the board, at least 12 inches from the board edge and no two markers could be within 12 inches of each other. The objective was to have a unit move over and grab a summoning token, if they did, then that unit could consume the token to summon one of the other units he has in reserves at the start of his next turn. I took archers and my two eagles and got the first turn. The Demons of Tzennech had a big block of pink horrors and a flying BSB set alone. I moved up, but was out of arrow range, but my eagles grabbed the furthest counters they could from me. I cast curse of anrahir on his unit of horrors to make them think twice about marching to get the token near them. On his turn, he flying marched his BSB to get a token and didn't move his horrors. then, on my next turn, I shot down his BSB with arrow fire from 20 archers so he would lose the counter and then took my eagles and then grabbed the other two summoning tokens near him. he didn't have a chance to grab another one with his pink horrors as I surrounded and bombarded it with arrows. I know I played cheap and didn't give him a chance, but mobility was key in this scenario. I didn't lose a unit. |

The first battle in a tournament was against Beastmen. custom scenario. The board was set up and the armies deployed on the far ends of the board (yay!). In the center of the map was a building or ruins which counted as impassible terrain. all spells cast from within 12 inches of the ruins or any spell that was directed at a target within 12 inches of the ruins would be dispelled as if dispelled by a 6th level wizard. Further, the game wasn't won on the normal victory points tabulation, it was instead won by "objective points." whoever had the most number of units within 6 inches of the ruins at the bottom of each game round would receive one token.
He moved his guys close to the ruins. I shot down a tuskagor with one unit of 10 archers, rolling three 6 sixes to wound at long range (lucky!). Then, another unit of 10 archers shot down one of his three minotaurs, who then proceeded to fail their panic check and ran. I marched my eagles and camped the objective just out of his charge arc the entire game, while raining arrowy doom upon his troops. He had two big blocks of guys and a smaller one. I destroyed the smaller block and two units of harpies and charged the minotaurs off the board with an eagle charge that was just within range (22 inches). I won with the most victory points thanks to my eagles. I killed quite a bit of his army. i gave up only 96 points. |

This game was a friendly 3000 point battle. I was deployed with a false flank and made him march the long way to get to me. However, on turn 2 I teleported my unit of 6 treekin with a wild rider lord on stag to a forest behind his units. This resulted in a rear charge to his mortis engine, which promptly died. Three large units of dire wolves died to my arrow fire. Dwellers took out half his unit of Grave Guard and two vampire heroes. My Treeman destroyed his coven throne which was ridden by his vampire lord. The game was called at this point, i had only lost a single great eagle, which died to a magic missile. |
